DeWayne Weaver, DVM
Owner/Practitioner
Dr. Weaver has been practicing medicine for over 20 years. Owner of Green Camp Veterinary Clinic, LLC since 1999, he purchased Southgate Veterinary Clinic in May 2017 from Dr. Matt Verbsky. He practices small animal medicine and surgery at both locations and large animal medicine and surgery (primarily cattle, goats, and sheep) out of the Green Camp location.
Growing up in a rural setting on a dairy farm near Kenton, Dr. Weaver developed a passion for all types of animals. This is what has drawn him back to the area of Green Camp and now at his new venture in Bellefontaine. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Melissa, their six children, and their many pets.
Cathy Zilles
Assistant/Reception
Cathy Zilles has been with Southgate since 2006. One of her biggest joys is spending time with her four grandchildren, which keeps her pretty busy. If she is not with them she enjoys hiking, kayaking, fishing, biking, and anything outdoors in the Summer, because she hibernates in the Winter.
Donna Stevenson
Receptionist/Office Manager
Donna has been with Southgate since 2018. One of my favorite parts of my job is working with all the fur babies. I love when they walk through the door and give kisses or make it known they have arrived. Every pet has its own personality and getting to know each one is always a neat experience.
My husband is Rich and we have two sons Mason and Garrett. I am truly blessed that my family loves animals too. We have 6 dogs: Jayson, Kody, Develyn, Gabby, Dalton, and Knox. We have 7 cats: Sheldon, Eclipse, Ellie May, Buddy, Morgan, Growler, and Julia. We also have 2 pygmy goats Tilly and Ollie, 2 Turkeys Gretel and Spots, and a few chickens. I enjoy being with my animals and taking them to different places with me. When I am not at work I love being outside hiking, kayaking, camping, and doing different crafting projects.
Lindsey Clute
Receptionist
I have an Associate in Science from Vincennes University. I worked with animals off and on through school for 5 years and I’m now the second receptionist at Southgate Vet Clinic. I like being outside kayaking and mushroom hunting.
Andrea Smith
Registered Veterinary Technician
Andrea began her journey with the Southgate team in September of 2020. She graduated from technician school in 2013 and started out in ER medicine, then transferred into shelter medicine and 4.5 years ago she made the move to general practice. Her favorite part of her job is surgery. Getting to meet and learn about our patients that come in for appointments is another favorite part of her job. Schnauzers will always hold a special place in her heart and always makes her day when one comes in to visit. She currently has a human kiddo, a fur baby kitty, and a dog named Hairy. When she isn’t working she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Some other things she enjoys are hiking, antiquing, and exploring new places in Ohio.
Amber Lawrence
Technician
Amber Graduated from Miami Jacobs Career College in Troy, Ohio where she studied Veterinary Technology. She has been with us at Southgate since the beginning of July 2022. She grew up in West Liberty but currently lives in Urbana with her boyfriend Thad and spoiled Pit Bull Karma. She has always had a love for animals, but it was the day she got karma that she knew this is what she wanted to be doing. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family.
Gabrielle
Assistant
Gabrielle has been with Southgate since 2020. She got an associate’s degree in Office Management and is currently in school for Veterinary Technician at Columbus State. She has grown up around the veterinary profession and has a passion for helping animals. When she isn’t working she loves hanging out with her friends and family and doing activities outside.
Lindsey Kimball
Technician in training
I joined the Southgate team in 2021. I started as an assistant and am currently in the process of finishing up my vet tech degree. I grew up on a farm and that is where my love for animals developed. I have a cat named Chloe and a dog named Nico. In my free time I enjoy playing the drums, writing music, drawing and traveling.
